02:27:34 [riffic]
will data submitted to the test server eventually migrate to the live server?
02:28:33 [riffic]
or should I not get too carried away if it'll dissappear
02:30:03 [riffic]
http://test.musicbrainz.org/show/edit/?editid=5377299 I'm wondering about this.. if there were multiple versions like mono and stereo, should that be listed as another release event?

question, all my albums are in AAC, if i use MusicIP then picard will it submit the PUIDs to MB?
06:26:27 [catgroove]
try it out
06:27:19 [chancey]
yeah, but MusicIP seems to take ages to validate the files, ill just be patient
06:27:39 [catgroove]
I wouldn't know. musicIP doesn't work for me
06:28:04 [catgroove]
whenerevr I dl for mthem, and isntal, my system tells me the installed executable is nog a valid file and that I should try redownloadign it

or it doesn't like ME, I guess. but then it could say so o n the sintalatiln download page
06:28:47 [chancey]
well if it does work, ill probly have quite few PUIDs to submit
06:28:49 [cooperaa_]
warp: still there?
06:28:52 [srotta]
The validation takes quite a while.
06:29:14 [chancey]
it seems to stall for a few minutes, then it a does a few in quick sucession
06:29:37 [chancey]
12,858 to go... i should leave it for a few days
06:30:38 [chancey]
once its validated, do i have to save the PUIDs to the files?
06:31:18 [srotta]
That's not necessary.
06:31:39 [srotta]
Picard will calculate the PUID itself.
06:31:45 [chancey]
ok cool
06:32:09 [srotta]
But if you've gone through your music with Picard already, you'll have to force it to calculate it.
06:32:17 [chancey]
is there a way to find out which files it has already validated to try it in picard rather than doing all the songs and finsing out it doesnt work?
06:32:59 [srotta]
MusicIP Mixer should show the status of the file (analyzed, needs to be validated, unanalyzed, unanalyzable).
06:33:51 [srotta]
Pick one that's analyzed and try it out. There's no guarantee the MusicDNS server has processed the analysis information, though.
06:34:10 [chancey]
yeah, i read someone it takes 24 hours, ill try
06:34:33 [srotta]
In practice it's been a few hours.
06:35:36 [srotta]
But if you have, for example, scandinavic characters in track titles, Picard may not find the PUID no matter how long you try - MusicDNS sends invalid XML in some cases.
06:40:26 [chancey]
ok, so how do i force picard to calculate the PUID?
06:42:28 [chancey]
if i click analyse, it says "(No PUID) (Fingerprinting of .m4a files is not supported.)"
06:42:50 [srotta]
If it has MB tags already in place, it will go straight into the album it belongs to. Just drag the file (or the whole album) back to "unclustered files", select the files and preass analyze.
06:42:51 [chancey]
does that eman it can read them from the meta, or that it cant calculate on AAC?
06:43:04 [chancey]
yeah i did that
